Nature meditation overnights 2025

Rewilding Meditation woodland retreats aim to bring meditation back into nature to deepen your practice. We want you to experience the peace, nourishment and joy of the woods so that nature becomes a place of refuge.

Over a weekend, participants will spend time together and alone within their own camp in beautiful, private woodlands. We will practise sitting, walking and nature meditations structured around a theme. Participation in all activities is optional.

All weekends will take place in Wildflower Woods, a bespoke outdoor retreat centre, near Bruton, Somerset. Wildflower Woods consists of 12 acres of broad-leaved woodland, with many different species of trees and flowers. Multiple paths lead to delightful glades and secret spots. Two seasonal streams meander through the woodland. It’s a haven for wildlife including bats, moles, butterflies, hares and many birds including owls, buzzards and even nightingales. There are covered areas if it rains, a kitchen shelter and a compost toilet.

We will run three weekends in 2025 for two or three nights. One retreat is open to all (June) while two are for women only (May & August), as many women want to practice on their own outdoors, but deeply engrained fears stop them.

As a bonus, some retreats will feature workshops on intuitive artmaking (May) and creativity and writing (June). There’s no obligation to attend these sessions and you will be very welcome to come to the retreats regardless.

At every weekend, delicious vegan meals, a campfire and nature meditation activities will be provided. A minimum of four and a maximum of eight participants can attend. A video pre-meet will introduce retreatants to each other and help prepare for the weekend.

Formal meditation practice is not essential, but you do need to be able sit in stillness for up to 40 minutes. The August bank holiday retreat is for experienced meditators or previous Rewilding Meditation retreatants only; all other retreats are open to all regardless of meditation experience. Please note these are not taught retreats. From the evening of the first day until lunchtime of the last day, retreats may be held in silence with an optional sharing after lunch, but each group decides itself when to be in silence and when not.

The retreat facilitators donate their time for free, thereby keeping costs low. However, dana (or donations) to the facilitators are appreciated (but certainly not expected). To cover the necessary costs of the woods, food, catering and other expenses, we ask for individual contributions of £90 (one night), £145 (two nights) or £205 (three nights) with a deposit of £30. Please don’t let financial or transport concerns stop you from coming to any retreat, as bursaries and lift sharing are available.

For further information, please see FAQ or contact Lesley on rewildingmeditation@gmail.com.

To book, please complete the booking form. After receiving the booking form, we will be in touch about how to transfer your £30 deposit. Once we receive both the booking form and the deposit, your place is secure. Feel free contact Lesley on rewildingmeditation@gmail.com, if you have any questions.

Unfurling the Heart

Saturday 24 May – Mon 26 May (Bank Holiday weekend)

Two nights

Facilitated by Lesley Wye and Sarah Davies

Women only

As the leaves uncurl and reach for the light, we too can gently unwind into the grace and beauty of the woodland at springtime. Drawing on Kwan Yin, the Boddhisattva of Compassion, we will be working with embodied, reciprocal heart-based practices that connect us to ourselves, our lives and the trees, birds, plants and animals all around us. An optional intuitive art workshop will be offered. No previous art experience necessary.

Rewilding Creativity

Friday 13 June – Sunday 15 June

Two nights

Facilitated by Lauren Mason and Liz Kalaugher

All welcome

The woods create themselves from air, earth and sunlight. Rewild yourself by spending a weekend in the same nourishing conditions and find out how your creativity flourishes. Alongside plenty of time for meditation and personal practice, designated creativity and writing workshops will guide your growth along.

Creating a Clearing in the Dense Forest of Our Lives

Friday 22 August – Monday 25 August

Three nights

Facilitated by Lesley Wye and Shauna Hope

Women only

In this retreat, we will follow the advice of the poet Martha Postlethewaite who suggests creating a clearing in the dense forest of our lives and waiting patiently to hear our own unique “song”. Within the spaciousness of a three-night retreat amongst the trees and open skies, we will have ample time to let go into silence and listen. As this retreat will be more unstructured with extra personal practice, experienced practitioners or those who have previously attended Rewilding Meditation retreats only.
