Dolebury Warren

The next sangha walk will be a Mendips walk on Sunday 4th December.

The walk starts at The Crown Inn at Churchill, where you can park at the side of the road opposite the pub, or along the side of the adjoining road. The walk gently ascends along the northern lower slopes of Dolebury Warren in an eastward direction and then through Mendip Lodge Wood turning in a clockwise direction at the eastern end of the wood then heading westward along the ‘Limestone Link’ path up on to Dolebury Warren itself, the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort, which offers excellent views of the Mendips. We then descend down the western edge of the fort and back to the pub.

The walk is about 4 miles with some gentle climbs and descents, but most of it is flat and quite easy going. It should take about two and a half hours at a gentle pace, including stopping for a tea/snack break en route. Sunday lunch at The Crown Inn (where the walk starts and ends) is a post-walk option J The Crown doesn’t accept advance bookings and operates a walk-in policy. Click here for the pub website. Otherwise you could bring a packed lunch and eat it when we have  break during the walk.

Meet at St Andrews Park at 10am
to share lifts, or at the start of the walk outside The Crown Inn, Churchill, BS25 5PP at 10.45am.

Everyone is welcome on the walk including children and dogs, and part of the walk will be in silence.
Please let me know in advance if you would like to attend the walk and whether you would like a lift or are able to offer a lift, and whether you will join us at St Andrews Park or at the start of the walk.
