Uley Bury Hillfort
“Starting high on the South Cotswold Ridge at Nympsfield, you plunge down to find the secret valley of Owlpen with its Tudor manor house of beautiful silvery stone. Back along Fiery Lane to Uley, steeply up a grassy hill to the Iron Age hillfort of Uley Bury (there’s a stunning prospect from its ramparts across the River Severn), and return through the woods to the Rose & Crown.”
Meet at 10am at St Andrews Park (top corner by the toilets) to share lifts. We will leave by 10.10am for a 45min drive to Nympsfield via the M4 and A46. A second meet up point will be the start of the walk – at 11am at the car park of the Rose & Crown Pub in Nympsfield (GL10 3UG).
The walk is a fairly gentle 6 mile ramble (with one short steep climb) through some beautiful countryside, and should take around 3-4 hours, including a stop for lunch at The Old Crown Inn in Uley (or bring your own packed lunch to eat outside).
Children and dogs are welcome and part of the walk (about 45 min) will be in silence.
Please let Gordon know if you are planning to come on the walk, whether you can offer or require a lift from Bristol, and also whether you will join us at St Andrews Park or in Nympsfield. firstname.lastname@example.org or tel. 0779 6087351
With warm wishes,
