Twyn-y-Gaer Hillfort

The next Bristol Insight sangha walk will be a circular 5 mile walk taking in the Twyn-y-Gaer Hillfort (near Cwmyoy) in the Black Mountains, led by Gordon on Sunday 27th October.

From the car park, a steady ascent leads to a wooded promenade along the southern side of the Vale of Ewyas. An Iron Age fort caps the summit of Twyn-y-Gaer, with panoramic views over three valleys. A shady lane leads down from the common with westward views across the Grwyne Fawr valley while the return route follows a high level green road, commanding views of Cwm Coed-y-Cerrig and Sugarloaf Mountain”

Walking time will be about 21/2 –3 hours at a gentle pace and the walk will be followed by the option of a pub lunch at The Queens Head (or bring sandwiches to eat outside).

Meet at St Andrews Park at 10am to share lifts, or at the start of the walk at 11.15am – the walkers car park opposite The Queens Head, Cwmyoy, NP7 7NE. (The car park is visible as a long strip in the maplink on the other side of the road and slightly north of the pub).

Family, friends, children and dogs are welcome on the walk, part of which will be in silence.

Let Gordon know in advance if you plan to come on the walk, and whether you will need or can offer a lift from Bristol at gordonadam@blueyonder.co.uk or 0779 608735. A  reminder will be sent one week before the walk.
